The Car has Arrived!

What else can you say, but I am getting ahead of myself, lets backup a few.  so I pulled in to the dealer this evening and it was sitting in the lot with a crowd around it.  Salesman said people have been standing around it since it rolled off the truck.  It does look pretty cool sitting there, but had to go through the paperwork, sales pitches for addons, etc.  Finally, I get a chance to get into and get the official tour, started it up and the sound is absolutely awesome.  Did I mention that I have yet to even drive a Subaru Impreza, much less a WRX, and now I have a STI beast.  Not having driven stick in almost 20 years, I am just hoping I can make it out of the parking lot and: a) not kill it and b) not take off like a bat out of hell.  Needless to say, I pulled out with out any problems, and off to the first ride to take it home.

Initial Thoughts:  The car is very forgiving, it drives nice a little stiff at times, but that is expected.  You certainly get the idea quickly that this car is all about performance and not about gadgets, like a lot of newer cars.  Though it has all your standard features you would expect, but overall, if I did not upgrade to the Nav System, not a lot of fluff here.  Speaking of the Nav System, I also upgraded/add the factory subwoofer, wow, I can figure the person that tune the system with the sub, must have been 17, because it was so over powering that I am thinking about pulling it out.  But I am sure there will be more posts on that.

Driving:  WOW! again WOW!  It really make driving fun again, it is not like you have to power your way down the road, but when you want to, click to sport and hold on.  This car really knows now to put the power to the pavement, all grip.  Sorry for the loss of words here, still trying to find the best way to describe it, besides WOW.

The car is born…..

Well April 26th, 2013 a car is born with my name on it.  At least according to the dealer today is the day she rolls off the line.  Are next gate is the ship, which I should get confirmation of soon as it leaves.  I really think they should allow you to track this stuff on a website somewhere, I think it would really cool and a great customer experience.  So we are down to 20 days until its arrival, the dealer said that there is a chance it could be sooner and we will not know until it starts its traveling around the world, and hits checkpoints.  First will be the loading on the ship, next will be arrival here in the states, then it boards a train, etc.  I will keep you all posted.  I do hope that this helps others that have cars on order of time frames etc.  Though it does seem like this is taking a little longer then normal.

Houston, We have an update!

Well received a call from the dealership today. Subaru updated the order, we now have a VIN, build date, and possible delivery date. So this is good news given on Tuesday I talked to the dealer and was told that it could take another 6 or more weeks. So day I was told the car is to be built on April 26th, and should be loaded on a boat soon after. Fuji Heavy Industries builds Subarus, most of the vehicles in the USA are made just north of Indianapolis, IN, however the Impreza is still made in Japan and shipped in. So it is pretty cool that the car is getting built on April 26th and it should arrive at the dealer on May 16th. And now the dealer thinks it could come early!! Now I am getting excited again. Stay tuned….

Coming in May

Well, it looks like the end of May will be when my new Subaru WRX STI finally arrives. Was really hoping for the 6 to 8 weeks instead of the 8 to 12 weeks, but it is the way it goes sometimes. On the bright side, gives me more time to increase the down payment. Also, have been looking through Tire Rack to find some Winter tires and track tires. My next post will have some more thoughts about possible tire option. Hopefully, maybe some of you might be able to give some feedback on tires. Until later, see ya.

Still waiting…

Well, I must say when you order a car and your told 6 to 8 weeks you really don’t think to much of it. But I am sitting about 4 weeks, and have not heard any good news from the dealer to get excited over. Hopefully this next coming week we will get some good information. And really would like to have it by the end of next month. The Trailblazer has been a great car, but 11 years and 200k miles have shown it has lived a long live and hopefully will last a little longer. Come on Subaru Factory!

Order Update

Well status report update. We now have an order number. I guess this means Subaru has received the request and is processing it. The next gate is assigning a VIN number, which means it is starting the build process. Stay tuned.

subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-2013Well, I decided to pull the trigger and order a 2013 Subaru WRX STI Limited. I added some nice additional options like a short throw shifter, subwoofer, and auto dimming rear view mirror. If car arrives in about six weeks, it will arrive right about my birthday. How cool of a birthday present is that.
